Usage of 副
The character 副 (fù) is primarily used as a measure word for pairs or sets of items that naturally come in twos, such as glasses (眼镜), gloves (手套), or couplets (对联). It counts the number of such paired objects.
Besides its use as a measure word, 副 also appears as a prefix in job titles to indicate a deputy or secondary position, such as 副经理 (deputy manager) or 副校长 (vice principal).
